From the point of view of evolution, human history can be seen as a line of continuous successful attempts to adapt and interact better with our environment. If we take the number of humans populating the earth as reference, we never have been as successful as a specie as today. Politically we have tried many ways of organize our selves. From the smaller ancient tribe passing through the despotic kings of the antiquity to the more benevolent but absolutistic ones of the enlightenment we can certainly trace a Line: more people have been ruled by a single authority. Democracy associated to capitalism has proven effective but was associated to imperialist practices: few countries managing a large number of underdeveloped ones. Now, Globalization is the emerging world order that is empowering and liberating countries previously subjugated by Imperialism, the former world order.

Imperialism required exploitation of other countries resources. It was because as wealth was based on the control of economic material resources, those resources should be controlled to allow more wealth. Because of that, Imperialism required keeping other countries economically underdeveloped. And, in order to keep those countries underdeveloped, it was also necessary to keeping them politically and culturally depended.

As wealth origination transitions from the control of natural resources and means of industrial production to the production and managing of knowledge, Globalization emerges as a new game with new rules.

The consequence is that it is increasingly not longer relevant for rich and wealthy countries to perform an imperial control of other countries. Now wealthy countries do not need as much as before -and progressively need less and less–absolute and direct control of other countries resources.

A very good example can be found on Chile. On the Nixon administration a socialist president was elected. On the fear of losing yet another country to in this continent, Nixon decided to pressure the new Chilean administration economically and ended making it to fall. I that way Nixon assured that Chile was kept under the US influence or, let’s call it, it imperial dominance. In the beginning of the 21st century the US signed a Free Trade Agreement with Chile. Opening the US doors to Chilean products and promoting the economic development of that country, on the best interest of the US.

To sum up, under Globalization what is required now by wealthy, powerful countries are partners. The more develop the better. Unlike material resources, knowledge is unlimited and infinity. More knowledge creates more knowledge, and more wealth.

The nature of truth has been discussed for very long. It was in the ancient Greece that this discussion toke the main shape it had for many centuries: consensual truth vs. ideal truth. However in the 20th century that confrontation may have finally ended. That dichotomy may have been just a persistent illusion born along the creation of the phonetic writing and alphabet. From that perspective a more accurate definition of truth emerged: Truth is a cultural instrument that changes as humans need it to change in order to adapt to the constant changing world where they live.

Since the beginning of classical Greek philosophy, there have been several attempts to define truth. At least four major types of truth theory have been proposed: correspondence theories coherence theories (coherentism, idealism), pragmatic theories, and deflationary theories. The latter group encompasses a wide variety of views, including the redundancy theory, the disquotation theory, and the prosentential theory.

However these attempts to define truth may have been futile and actually may have been born from an illusion: the one that appears along literacy and the phonetic alphabet. The notion that something is eternal and unchangeable –something that share most of the previous definitions of truth- actually seem to be originated after the human race got in contact with literacy and the unchangeable and perennial written word. On cultures without phonetic literacy, truth is mostly understood as something that changes according to the circumstances.

In recent times truth has begun to be understood as just a cultural creation of our specie.  Something that we use to better adapt to a constantly changing world that is always offering us new challenges and thus requiring that we change our ways and beliefs. Truth can be understood as a cultural instrument that allows us, humans, to adapt tour environment. As the environment changes, so it does what is taken as truth.

The second paragraph on this essay comes from the Britannica Concise Encyclopedia. It is not properly quoted or paraphrased. I decided to publish it as I presented it in class to be offer an accurate picture of the situation. The teacher duty was to indicate how to properly quote. I did disclose the origin of that paragraph to the teacher. However, for Rotonda the whole essay was plagiarism as well the other essay here. Finally, this incident ended with an apology from the Dean in front of the class. I was transfer to another class and I approved it.

El Segundo párrafo de este ensayo viene de la Britannica Concise Encyclopedia. No está bien citado o parafraseado. Decidí publicarlos acá tal como lo presente en clases para dar una idea exacta de la situación. El deber de la profesora era indicar como hacer la cita adecuadamente. Yo le dije cual era el origen de ese párrafo. Sin embargo, Rotonda continúo diciendo que todo el ensayo es un plagio, igual que el otro ensayo presentado acá. Finalmente, este incidente termino con una disculpa de la Decana en frente de la clase. Me transfirieron a otra clase y aprobe el curso.

Me gusta mucho leer y, cuando creo que tengo algo que aportar, escribir. Me gusta también mucho estudiar. Ahora estoy dedicado a hacer negocios, cosa que también me encanta: mucha libertad, resultados inmediatos y a largo plazo la coherencia y la responsabilidad muestran buenos frutos.

Para mantenerme conectado con el estudio estoy llevando cursos de ingles para hablantes de otras lenguas en la ciudad en la que vivo, Fort Myers, en el Edison College. La experiencia estaba siendo muy buena hasta que hace un par de semanas fui acusado de plagiarismo. La profesora, Violeta Rotonda, sostiene que dos de mis ensayos son copias. No dice de donde, dice que no puede probar nada.

Ahora estoy aclarando el problema con el Dean (decano) responsable. Por ahora en las dos siguientes entradas en este blog publico mis dos ensayos en cuestión. El primero, dedicado a la verdad (ironico el asunto, verdad?) lo hice en un par de horas por el apuro. El siguiente, sobre globalización y afines, lo hice en el college en las dos horas que dejo Rotonda para eso. Si algo rescatable hay en ellos son las ideas, mucho más que mi ingles elemental y el apuro en hacerlos.

Las ideas en estos ensayos, por cierto, no son nada improvisadas. Llevo mucho tiempo dándoles vuelta. Esta primera presentación espero que me ponga en camino a seguir escribiendo sobre ellas.

Este asunto se esclareció, tal como pueden leer a continuación, satisfactoriamente.

Interesante notar sin embargo que fue cobardemente e irresponsablemente utilizado por Gustavo Faveron para difamarme públicamente.

En todo caso, valga la ocasión para poner al día este asunto aquí. Estoy aun a la espera de que publique en su blog lo que a continuación pongo:

Las reglas con las que debo ser juzgado son aquellas que corresponden a un estudiante en un College norteamericano. Ese juzgamiento determino que los ensayos son originales, que no hay plagio y que la Dean (jefa de la profesora Rotonda) SE DISCULPARA CONMIGO Y CON LA CLASE EN CONJUNTO por el desatino y que me cambiaran de clase. Finalmente aprobé el curso.

Es increíble el resentimiento que Faveron tiene. Me dedica un post completo de su blog. Nada menos y nada más que por un párrafo que no parafrasee o cite como correspondía hacerlo, en la media hora que le puede asignar a tipiar y poner en orden el mini ensayo sobre verdad que escribí en clase y, por cierto, que fue aprobado en el esquema que presente a la profesora. Eso merecía que ella me indicara como hacer la cita o el parafraseo correctamente (cosa que tenía planeado, pero no me dio el tiempo; por cierto, en clases inmediatamente aclare que ese párrafo no era mío, UNICA Y EXCLUSIVAMENTE ESE PARRAFO, y que efectivamente no estaba bien citado, esa aclaración sirvió como precedente en el procesos que terminó en la disculpa de la Dean). No corresponde que Rotonda diga, ella delante de la clase y Faveron delante de toda la blogosfera, que los dos ensayos son plagios.

LOS DOS ENSAYOS SON ORIGINALES.  Faveron comparte la misma irresponsabilidad temeraria y delirante que llevo a Rotonda a decir que mis ensayos son plagios. Concedamos, eso sí, que Faveron al menos se tomo el trabajo de cotejar el asunto (solo un párrafo, por cierto), MAS NO DE ESPERAR MI RESPUESTA NI HACER NINGUNA AVERIGUACION ADICIONAL PARA DECIR PUBLICAMENTE QUE MIS DOS ENSAYOS SON PLAGIOS, ES DECIR, PARA DIFAMARME. Rotonda ni siquiera cotejo una palabra de los ensayos.

Faveron tienen una responsabilidad mayor que Rotonda sin duda. Por el alcance de la lectoría de su blog y porque sospecho que su posición, grado y criterio académico, deberían darle mas criterio que el que Rotonda mostró.

Interesante también que Faveron me dedique un post completo, sin tener en claro el asunto, y no dedique ninguno al plagio completo de un ensayo que su amigo Cueto realizo. De cualquier manera, ese ensayo, un plagio de cabo a rabo, no merece un post, un párrafo de un estudiante de ingles sí. Nótese que si cueto llego a recibió dinero por su ensayo, se trataría además de una estafa. Ahora, ¿con que reglas quiere ser juzgado Faveron?  ¿A qué tribunal especial se recurre para este tipo de (ponga el lector el adjetivo por favor)? ¿Correspondería llamar la atención a quienes están por encima de él en la institución que lo alberga y cuyo nombre publicita Faveron en su blog, el Bowdoin College? ¿Estarán enterados de la cotidiana conducta irresponsable e inmoral, patanesca y sicaria, de su profesor de literatura latinoamericana? ¿Estarán al tanto de lo que cobijan: un sr que se ha convertido en el ambiente cultural peruano en el equivalente moral a Laura Bozo en televisión?
